Salam guys,
Sebelum masuk topik harini, there are 2 things worth sharing:
#1st Thing
I don’t feel like writing this newsletter today. Rasa macam nak update Telegram, “Hi guys, no newsletter today, enjoy your weekend!”
But I still write it because, ini adalah ‘komitmen’ yang I put on myself, I said that I’m gonna do this every Sunday.
So, if you have ‘new goal for 2024’, and you found yourself terasa nak skip (“alah sekali je skip”), please don’t quit. If you’re tired, rest. But don’t quit.
I’ll write about this: mujahadah - internal struggle, in details someday, inshaAllah.
#2nd Thing
I actually want to write about, sambung topik minggu lepas, Essentialism. Once you have decided ONE DIRECTION you want to go all out, kena implement 3 perkara:
1. Planning | 2. Execution | 3.System
System disini bukan bermaksud system komputer, atau mobile apps. System disini bermaksud, how do you want to execute it.
Let’s say your goal nak turun 10kg, and you plan nak exercise hari-hari for 30 minit. Your sistem could be bangun awal pukul 5, then 5.30 am-6 am you are on treadmill or berjalan di sekitar kawasan perumahan.
Talk about that someday too, inshaAllah.
There are so many things I want to share with you. My plan is to write until #50th newsletter, (inshaAllah) and then, that’s that. Today we’re at #26th.
I hope you can bear with me. Beruang dengan saya yeah…
Alright, today I want to share something related to the basic idea of minimalism.
It’s a conversation that I had with my mom.
My mom ada 2 rumah, and kedua-dua rumah ni ada tanam banyak bunga, pokok dalam pasu, all of that.
So one day my mom was worried. Bila ada kat rumah 1, terfikir, siapa nak siram pokok rumah 2. Bila duduk rumah 2, teringat pokok bunga rumah 1.
I told my mom something similar like this, “Nak kena fikir pokok dekat rumah ni lagi, rumah tu lagi.. Dalam minimalism ada topic, makin banyak barang kita ada, makin banyak kita kena fikir..”
The things that you own, own you.
Note: Please take note that I don’t really preach about minimalism to my mom or to anyone in my family members.
Then my mom said, “Sebab suka. Rasa happy bila cara ke pokok bunga...”
And then I terdiam…
Oh gosh, I wrote about this before!
Minimalism is not just about LESS, LESS, LESS! It’s about LESS on things that don’t matter, and MORE on things that matter; If you suka benda tu, then it’s ok to keep MORE.
Here’s what I wrote in the past:
Ada orang, dia suka baca buku. Marie Kondo kata keep 30 books - tak perlu pun follow principle ni if you memang suka sangat membaca. Dalam rumah pun ada library. You can keep more than 30 books.
Ada orang background dia art, melukis. So dia ada banyak painting brush, banyak canvas, banyak cat untuk painting dalam rumah.
Ada orang, dia buka bengkel baiki kereta kat rumah. So rumah dia ada banyak peralatan baiki kereta.
You keep what you need and you minimize part yang you don't need.
That’s it.
That’s the only thing I want to share today.
If you relate back to the last week’s topic, Essentialism, you should go into ONE DIRECTION pada projek yang you’re most excited about, and drop everything else.
Mungkin ada banyak benda you nak capai; do it in sequence, not in parallel.
For example:
Sequence bermaksud: Q1 fokus A, Q2 fokus B, etc.
Bukan Q1 fokus A & B serentak (ini parallel).
And another thing is, make sure your ONE DIRECTION is something that excites you the most.
So that, your energy fokus pada benda yang you suka. Bila kita buat benda kita suka, mudah untuk kita buat hari-hari, dan dari hati.
Kalau kita buat benda yang kita tak suka, banyak ‘keluhan’ nanti.
Hence, if you don’t like your current job, do something about it.
Almost everyone spends most of their lives working, so why would anyone want to spend most of their lives doing something that they hate?
