Salam guys,
I’m writing this quite early today. Today, I need to go somewhere.
Somewhere only we know…
If you notice, tiap-tiap minggu, I appear on your inbox at different times. The truth is, I’m flawed like everyone else.
Sibuklah, itulah, inilah.. but then, I have to make a way.
Take extreme ownership, remember? (last week newsletter)
The things that you always wished to do, there will never be a perfect time to do it.
And then bila dah start, kadang-kadang banyak sangat halangannya.
Will you just quit?
You really want to reduce weight for example, but it seems like, macam-macam dah you cuba, nampak macam belum ada sinar di hujung terowong. Will you just quit?
Don’t.
So that’s the topic for today, sabar.
Fasobrun jameel.
Last week, seorang kawan share pasal Khairul Ameng. Since I don’t really scroll social media, I missed a lot of things (and it doesn’t matter.)
Everything yang kita nampak di social media, semuanya yang indah. Tiada yang tidak indah, melainkan yang indah-indah belaka.
Contoh, yang kita nampak, Khairul Ameng buat sales dalam masa 3 minit 39 saat. Kita tak nampak 10 tahun hardwork behind the scene, keep sharing resepi. (10 years overnight success)
And kita, 10 hari work on something, it didn’t work out, tiada sinar di hujung terowong, give up?
Or 10 weeks?
Or 10 months?
Still didn’t work out.
What should you do?
Here’ something from Nathan Barry, founder of ConvertKit:
Nota: Dalam imej ni ditulis ‘produk’. Change it according to- anything you’ve been working on
Shut down or double down?
Quit atau teruskan?
Sometimes, apa yang kita buat didn’t work out, disebabkan cara kita salah. Ataupun ‘sistem’ salah. Yang ni, kita kena teruskan, fix, adjust, iterate, keep going.
For example, you always think you want to exercise lepas balik kerja. Tapi lepas balik kerja penat. Harini try, esok try, minggu depan try, bulan depan try, still tak dapat nak start exercise lepas balik kerja.
Maybe you can change it, to early morning. Then keep going.
The same goes to your side project.
Perhaps, you haven’t given your best shot? Or perhaps, there’s something that you don’t know.
Fasobrun jameel.
Dalam mengejar apa yang you nak capai, mungkin you dah lalui banyak failures.
Failures, are just the data.
Failures mean, you are working on something.
Haritu I dapat rejection email. Not long after that, I was driving, and I pasang podcast. Dalam podcast tu tiba-tiba orang tu cakap pasal failures.
Dia cakap benda yang lebih kurang sama I lalui. Hantar email, and then got rejected. That means, you’re doing something.
Being rejected pun means, you’re trying. If you don’t get rejected, if you don’t face failures, that means you’re not doing anything.
Who would you be if you’re not willing to fail?
Hidup indah, tiada yang tidak indah, melainkan yang indah-indah belakaaa.
If you have never failed, you’ve never tried anything new.
J.K Rowling, penulis Harry Potter, kena reject 12 kali by publishers.
Oh boy, after the seventh time, if you’re her friend, will you tell her, “Yo J.K Rowling, quit. Your book sucks!”
And if she listened to you, your kids never had a chance to watch Harry Potter today.
So, don’t quit ok?
“Every master was once a disaster.”
You do it.
You fail.
You adjust.
Repeat.
“Success is the result of 10,000 iterations”
Alright guys, before I end, I nak share 1 video (5 minit je, don’t worry).
Video ni cerita tentang willpower. For example, you nak work on your project in early morning. You should work on it first.
Sebab kalau you dah start memasak untuk anak-anak, basuh kain jemur kain, scroll IG, kejar kucing, then baru nak work on your project, you’re probably tired by that time.
Ok guys, got to go.
I hope there’s something you can learn from this newsletter.
As usual, feel free to hit reply and let me know what you think or if you have any questions I can answer.
Talk to you again next week inshaAllah.
