Salam guys,
Last Tuesday, at night, I scrolled my phone. Masa tu teringat, "Inilah aku yang dulu, malam-malam scroll phone..”
Today, I'm not that person anymore.
So masa I scroll tu, I was on YouTube. A watched a video yang bercakap tentang Information Overloaded.
(So now I can justify I scrolled phone for something beneficial - we all do this aite? Always bagi alasan, "This info is good, I need to know this.")
Everything is just too much.....
Question: Do we really need to catch up with everything?
No.
Tak semua benda kita perlu ambil tahu.
That’s why its important for us to decide:
Our life priorities
Our purpose
Ramai orang, dia tak decide apa dia nak capai. Bila kita tak decide apa kita nak, so mind kita tak filter information. Just consume everything.
Pernah tak jumpa video dengan tajuk,
“Watch this, your life will be different..”
“Watch this, this is the key to happiness..”
“If you don’t watch this, you will regret forever…”
Kita pun click.
In that position, kita let orang lain decide untuk kita, apa yang kita perlu consume.
In our newsletter last week, I’ve already shared about: start scrolling dalam diri, untuk cari, apa sebenarnya you nak capai.
Have you found one?
Have you started scrolling dalam diri?
Sometimes, we consume too much information; we end up not doing anything about it.
Nouman Ali Khan pernah tanya audience dalam talk, “Sama tak orang yang baca 1 Quran, tapi tak faham apa-apa (sebab tak pernah take effort untuk baca maksud) vs seorang budak yang baca 1 surah pendek, tapi dia faham maksud surah tu, and live by it?”
Contoh mudah gini. Budak ni faham Surah Al-Asr (Demi Masa) and then dia make sure yang dia tak buang masa lagi.
That’s another discussion…
Anyway, today, I want to invite you to change our old habit from ‘consuming’ to ‘creating’.
Before that, let me emphasize to you that, there’s a difference between ‘Create’ and ‘Consume’
Finishing reading a book; that falls into the ‘consume’ category.
Scrolling social media mindlessly? That’s the worst category of ‘consume’.
I want you to ‘create’ something, not ‘consume’.
And before that, don’t just create for the sake of creating. But rather, have something specific you want to build.
For example:
Write a book (or eBook)
Develop an apps, or software
Write a mini-course (like an email series)
Buat video course teaching about your forte. Contoh anda seorang accountant. Create series of video untuk orang lain faham accounting.
Create a blog with a specific niche - for example, your forte is gardening. Share everything you know about gardening in that blog. Write a post every single day.
Or perhaps, you want to create something ‘tangible’, like a mini garden outside your house. You do that by planting a seed each day.
Atau ada orang, dia suka melukis. Painting, Just go ahead.
Atau mungkin, you are fully devoted to your career. Create SOP, atau dokumen kan, apa yang you buat. So that if let's say anything happen to you, then the company perlu hire orang baru. Orang tu hanya perlu baca SOP yang you create untuk faham kerja you from A to Z.
Atau mungkin, anda dah lama terfikir nak start that online business. Spend some time to create: lay out the foundation to build up that business.
This project, is the answer for the endless question we might have had in the past: How to stop mindless scrolling?
By creating, kita sedang ‘replace’ old habit with a new one. From ‘consuming’ to ‘creating’.
Contoh lain, kita nak tukar habit setiap Ahad pagi, from scrolling social media, to exercise misalnya. Kena replace habit tu with something else.
Sebab, kalau kita tak tahu nak replace dengan apa, then kita tak buat apa-apa. Bila tak buat apa-apa, the easiest thing to do is, grab phone and scroll. #truestory
And then, kita kena faham, apa-apa kita nak buat, ada progress dia.
Seorang ibu mengandung 9 bulan. We cannot take 9 women to get pregnant for 1 month. Tak sama.
You don't set out to build a wall. You don't say 'I'm going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that's ever been built. ' You don't start there. You say 'I'm gonna lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid,' and you do that every single day, and soon you have a wall.” - Will Smith
And if you think you don’t have time, set aside some time.
Kita ada masa untuk scroll, sebab kita set aside some time untuk scroll. Tengok-tengok “Eh setengah jam dah,”
What if, that setengah jam, kita guna untuk ‘create’? Contoh:
8pm - 8.30pm; atau
8.30pm - 9pm; atau
9pm - 9.30pm
Now, tell me, what do you want to create?
If you don’ know what it is, ask yourself, “Apa benda yang aku kata aku nak buat, tapi aku tak buat-buat lagi?”
One final note before I end our newsletter today.
The place where I stay at the moment, dah 2 hari hujan. So I tak keluar exercise. I saw this post, and I decide nak cabut rumput.
It was raining, tapi tak lebat. Masa tengah cabut rumput, tiba-tiba hujan lebat.
I reminded myself, “How you do anything, is how you do everything.”
Masa tu dah letak target, kena habis area ni, baru boleh berhenti. So, hujan pun hujan lah. Just do it. (Bila lagi kan nak main hujan macam masa kecik-kecik dulu?)
Jangan biarkan badai melanda menyebabkan kita berhenti sebelum sampai ke garisan penamat.
Ask yourself, “Are you a finisher?”
It’s not how you start that’s important, but how well you finish.
The same applies to our lives.
No matter how screwed up we were in the past, just turn over a new leaf.
Alright guys, thanks for reading.
