Salam there,
Today is our first series of Minimalis Not-So-Private Newsletter yeay!
Sebelum ni newsletter #1-#50, I cerita tentang declutter dari 4 sudut (physical, digital, mental and heart), so that kita dapat fokus kepada hadis 3 perkara (sedekah jariah, ilmu bermanfaat, dan doa anak soleh).
As I said in the last newsletter, from today onwards, kita akan fokus kepada “sedekah jariah”; to make more so that we can give more.
And today jugak, I nak explain why I nak stop jual 30-Day Declutter Journey.
And today, mungkin you akan lebih faham maksud LESS IS MORE.
Alright, introducing…
The Pareto Principle 80/20
20% of our effort, contribute 80% of the result. Huh, that’s too vague isn’t it?
Minimalis Not-So-Private-Newsletter to the rescue!
Dia gini boh..
And that 20% contribute to 80% of your happiness.
Sama juga untuk tupperware.
Khas yang suka kumpul-kumpul tu. Dalam banyak-banyak yang you kumpul (or your wife), 20% je yang pakai.
Friends. Dalam banyak-banyak kawan you ada, 20% contribute 80% of your happiness.
Yang lain-lain, tetap hidup walau tidak berguna.
You can find this 80/20 principle anywhere.
Including in your business.
It could be, 20% of your clients, contribute 80% of the revenue.
Or 20% of your products, contribute 80% of the profits.
So, what you gonna do?
Cut those 80%.
Huh?
I know your jaw is literally dropping now. I’m not asking you to cut those 80% at once. Buat slow slow.
And then, you just focus on that 20%. Bagi your full attention dekat 20% tu.
Sama macam baju kan? Kalau dah 20% je baju dalam almari tu kita pakai, kenapa nak simpan lagi 80%? Semak kan nampak hari-hari?
Sama jugak kepala kita.
Kalau kita tak remove 80% of benda yang kita buat, kita akan stuck dalam cycle busy.
Do less things, and this time, only the right thing.
Stop doing what’s not working, and start spending all your time on what is working.
Baru ni sempat dengar podcast, conversation between Nathan Barry and Ali Abdaal.
Kalau you refer tulisan dekat board,
Before: YES
After : NO
Apa maksud dia?
Look, this is something I sendiri dah lalui. All entrepreneurs akan lalui benda ni.
Before: You kena cuba macam-macam. Because you don’t know which one works!
You tak boleh baca saja, atau tengok tutorial saja.
You kena buat benda tu.
Sama tak belajar main piano tengok video je vs tangan kita ni main piano tu…?
Tak sama.
Kena cuba, kena berani take risk, kena berani tempuh failure. Dari situ you akan belajar.
So dalam imej kat atas ni dia cerita, BEFORE, YOU SAY YES TO MANY THINGS.
AFTER?
You start to say NO!
Sebab, masa ni you dah nampak, what works, and what doesn’t.
And masa ni you nampak, which 20% of things you do, that contribute 80% of the profits.
Then, you kena declutter all those 80%, slow slow, untuk fokus pada 20%.
Start to say NO untuk the other 80%.
You need to kill your darlings and start removing these products and services from your business.
Look, we are all going to die. In our deathbed, are we going to think about spending all our time working for an extra 5 points in margin?
You’re much better off working and focusing on the few activities that generate you the most results.
Your vision need to be stronger than your anxiety.
Less is more.
10x is easier than 2x
There’s a book called 10x is easier than 2x.
Contoh mudahnya gini.
You ada 5 bisnes. Hebat lah bunyinya.
Untuk fokus pada 5 bisnes ni, contoh
Isnin you fokus bisnes #1
Selasa, fokus bisnes #2
Rabu, fokus bisnes #3
Khamis, fokus bisnes #4
Jumaat, fokus bisnes #5
Compare dengan you ada 1 bisnes. Setiap hari, you boleh fokus bisnes #1. So, its easier to 10x that business.
Compare you ada 5 business, fokus akan scattered. Kejap fikir bisnes #1, kejap fikir bisnes #2.
It’s better for you to devote 10 hours untuk Bisnes #1, daripada devote 2 jam untuk setiap 5 bisnes yang you ada. (Yeah read that again if you don’t understand, because I’m confused too..)
Nak explain pun payah kalau banyak benda. Haih.
Apatah lagi kalau buat.
I know some of you dah different level, you fikir bisnes #1, ada manager lain. Bisnes #2, ada manager lain.
Look, put your ego aside.
Steve Jobs fokus pada Apple. Apple jadi Apple harini, sebab dia fokus. Jadi telefon, tak jadi buah dah.
Some people buat banyak benda, sebab dia nak, atau dia nak orang nampak dia hebat?
I talked about this dalam Majalah Minimalis, tajuk “Let Go The Sense of Recognition.” (Contoh you beli rumah baru kereta baru, you tunjuk kat social media. You nak benda tu, atau you nak orang nampak you ada benda tu? Sama macam keluar dengan family, upload kat social media, “Alhamdulillah, quality time with fams” - You really enjoy those moments, atau you nak orang nampak you have those moments?)
Less is More
So, by this time, I hope you faham maksud Less is More.
Now you decide to declutter those 80% of your products and services yang contribute only 20% of your profits, what’s next?
You akan ada lebih banyak masa, untuk fokus pada 20% of your products and services. It’s time to doubling the effort for what works!
Spend most of your time on the activities that make you the most profit.
Benda ni kalau diikutkan, banyak lagi discussion nya. Contoh, ada buku called Buy Back Your Time; penulis dia bagi these 4 quadrant:
You should focus your time on Production and Investment quadrant.
And then discussion about Leadership: Founder of Flounder. Kalau you Founder, tak semestinya you boleh lepas everything dekat Manager, so that you can have multiple businesses.
Too much discussion on this topic, but let’s do it minimalist style, one thing at a time.
With that said, in the future, this is what I want to discuss more dalam Minimalis Newsletter. We’ll talk more about money.
Fokus untuk “sedekah jariah” part.
So, no hard feelings, if this something yang you taknak baca, you can click unsubscribe link below.
30-Day Declutter Journey
So, this digital product, is not the first product yang I let go.
It contributes only 20% of the profits.
You might ask, kenapa tak biarkan je? Dapat jugak walau 20% kan?
Look, you need to understand about “Zeigarnik effect”
Selagi I tak let go product ni, selagi tu I duk fikir, macam mana lah nak increase sales. Dia jadi “uncomplete task” yang duk berlegar dalam kepala.
Before that, I want to mention, in last newsletter, I lied to you. I said, “Buy this so that I can buy kupi.”
No kupi for me actually from this product.
Moving forward, I will give this course FREE FOR MINIMALIS NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS.
But, if you get any value from the course, I’d be happy if you can pay for it, and I will channel that money untuk projek wakaf.
I nak after this, 100% pergi pada Palestine. (Sebelum ni, setiap RM10, I akan transfer pada Cinta Gaza Malaysia)
But, before that, collection untuk September, untuk projek wakaf telaga air. Just any number that I get, kalau tak cukup, I tambah duit sendiri.
October onwards, inshaAllah for Palestine.
I will keep you updated on the collection. I takkan ambil 1 sen pun masuk pocket, that’s my promise.
You can find the link to access 30-Day Declutter Journey in subscriber’s area below the line, at the bottom of this newsletter.
Conclusion
So, tell me what you want to declutter.
Ok just kidding.
You don’t have to tell me anything. Just continue doing whatever you’re doing before you read this newsletter.
Saturday next week, I dah schedule newsletter sampai mid October.
Most of it, bercakap pasal duit. Just in case you berminat untuk ada another stream of income untuk sedekah.
Alright, love you guys.
Love you more if you can bring more friends to join this newsletter.
